What is Jawline Slimming?

Jawline slimming is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure designed to create a more defined and slender appearance in the lower face. It primarily targets the masseter muscles, which are the large muscles on the sides of the jaw used for chewing.

When these muscles are overdeveloped due to factors like teeth grinding (bruxism), gum chewing, or genetics, they can make the face appear wider or square in shape. By injecting a muscle relaxant, such as botulinum toxin, into the masseter muscles, their activity is reduced. This causes the muscles to gradually shrink in size over time, leading to a softer, more V-shaped, or heart-shaped facial contour.

Discomfort is usually minimal. A very fine needle is used for the injections, and we use a topical numbing cream to ensure you are comfortable.

The procedure itself only takes about 15 minutes, but the entire consultation can last up to 45 minutes. During this time, we will discuss all your options and create a customized plan just for you.

The full effects are not immediate, as it takes time for the muscle to shrink. You may start to notice a softening of the jawline within a few weeks, with the full slimming effect becoming visible in about 4 weeks.

The effects are temporary, typically lasting between 3 to 6 months. To maintain the results, follow-up treatments are recommended. Over time, as the muscle becomes less active, you may find that the results last longer between sessions.

Common side effects are mild and short-lived. These may include slight redness, swelling, small bumps at the injection sites, bruising, or a mild headache. More rarely, some people may experience temporary muscle weakness, though this is uncommon.

No. The treatment only relaxes a portion of the masseter muscle and does not prevent you from chewing, talking, or making facial expressions.
